Sunday Morning Fire on North Bridge Street
Updated On: Feb 09, 2015

Group "A" responded to a fire on North Bridge Street at around 10:30 Sunday morning February 1, 2015.

A tractor trailer that was parked inside of the building caused the fire.

When crews arrived on scene, they were able to make it inside the smokey building. Captain Anthony Cerruti said it took a while to locate the fire due to the size of the building and the amount of smoke.

“It was a little nerve racking for our Deputy Chief because it was such a big building. We can only go so far with our hoses. At some point, we rely on the hoses to get us out of buildings in smoky conditions if we’re indeed trapped,” said Cerruti.

For the safety of Firefighters, the building had to be evacuated multiple times to get a headcount of every firefighter.

The fire went to 3 alarms and mutual aid was called in from Chicopee, West Springfield and South Hadley to help control the fire.
